Summer Session 2 classes 7/18-8/20
Dancing Tots Ages 2.5-3.5
In this class, basic ballet steps will be taught, along with creative movement and body recognition. This class stresses repetition for muscle strength and memory by combining dance games and fun music. This class is the perfect introduction for a mom free dance class.
Pre-Ballet/Tap Ages 3-5
The perfect 45 minute program to welcome your child to the art of dance. This class is composed of fun filled songs that introduce your child to Tap and Ballet. Not only is this class the perfect “introduction” into the world of dance, it also develops socialization skills, listening skills, independence, and also helps with parent/child separation.
FUNdamentals of Dance Ages 6- 10
Ballet * Jazz * Lyrical * Tap *
This class is an introduction of the basic styles of Lyrical, Jazz, Tap and Ballet. Each class will enhance the dancer's knowledge of steps and combinations. Dancers will find their own artistry, through play and performance practice, students will take their technical knowledge and explore their own movement, musicality and creative expression.
FUNdamentals of Stretch Ages 6-10
This class is for dancers who are working on their flexibility training. In this class dancers will learn the proper and safe technique to enhance their flexibility and take it to the next level, using active and static stretches.
FUNdamentals of Leaps & Turns Ages 6-10
Our Beginner Leaps & Turns class is a jazz-based technique class for your dancer looking to improve their leaps, turns, and kicks. This class includes a warmup that enforces strength, conditioning, and flexibility. The rest of class time is dedicated to learning new leap, turn, and kick sequences.
Hip Hop Debut Ages 5-9 Intermediate Ages 10-14
Advanced Ages 13-18
Dancers develop musicality, creativity, listening skills and coordination. This non-stop, action-packed class includes hip hop, basic break dancing, and dance games that will have your kid moving to the beat! Don’t be intimidated...these classes are great for boys and girls who want to be challenged, learn various styles of hip hop.
Ballet 1 / 2 Ages 9 - 11
An introduction to ballet technique, terminology, and positions. Students will learn the classical art form of ballet through barre work, center, and progressive combinations. Each week a mini ballet combination will be taught to learn choreography quickly
Intro to Improv Ages 9-14
Dance improvisation is the process of spontaneously creating movement. In this class, students will learn how to explore new movements and challenge their bodies through improvisational techniques and exercises to expand their physical capacity. As they learn to find their own unique style and new movement, they will also learn how to take their improv and contextualize it into fresh and exciting improvised and set choreography
Combo 1/2 Ages 10-18
There’s no greater frustration than feeling lost in a dance class: Forgetting the movement, adrift in the dance combination, confused about what’s next in the choreography. This Combination class is a great way for students to experience different types of dance in a one-hour instructional time. Each week a new combination and style will be taught. Emphasis will be on learning new choreography quickly.
Technique 1/2 Ages 10-18
A one hour class consisting of Jazz and Lyrical technique. Jazz is an exploration of style and presentation. Classes emphasize musicality and body alignment, conditioning, stretch and strengthening, rhythm and stylization as well as fun and innovative choreography. Lyrical combines technical components of ballet with the freedom and fluidity of jazz. Lyrical is an expressive style of dance that allows the dancer to interpret and express the emotions, lyrics and story associated with a piece of music.This class includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations and across-the-floor progressions.
Ballet 3 and up Ages 11 and up
This summer class will build on basic ballet vocabulary and continue to develop proper technique, strength and flexibility. Class will focus on increasing strength and flexibility needed to advance to pointe work, while continuing to add to ballet vocabulary, grace and musicality.
Stretch 1/2 Ages 10-18
In this class, students will increase their understanding of their anatomy and dance alignment while increasing flexibility and strengthening their core, fee, turnout muscles, legs, back, and upper body posture.
Full Body Conditioning 1/2 Ages 10-18
Full Body Conditioning is a muscle building class focusing on high repetitions and light weight. Exercises will utilize a mixture of dumbbells, resistance bands and body weight to sculpt and define arms, back, legs, glutes and abdominals.
Intro to Dance Skills Ages 9-14
The class is designed to promote excellence in tumbling, flexibility, strength, balance, contortion and partner/group stunting for dancers. This class also provides students the opportunity to be taught tricks and skills that can be incorporated into dance routines. This class is all about preparing and learning skills to perform tricks safely. Dancers will be taught to perform with elegance and grace - making it look effortless!
Musical Theater Combos 1 Ages 9-14 Musical Theater Combos 2 Ages 15-18
During Musical Theatre, dancers will get in touch with their inner performer while learning fun new Broadway-inspired dances. All combinations will be rooted in jazz technique while exploring ideas of acting, character development, performance quality, and stage presence. Intermediate/Advanced Jazz Technique is not required but is encouraged.
Contemporary Basics Ages 9-14
Contemporary Basics is a great class for the dancer who has experience in dance class and is ready to move beyond the fundamentals. During this curious yet focused class, dancers will explore basic floor work, intro to breath integration, proper body alignment, and more. Dancers will build strength, improve their movement quality, and enhance memorization skills in this welcoming environment.
Jazz Fusion 1 Ages 9-14 Jazz Fusion 2 Ages 15-18
During Jazz Fusion, dancers will get the opportunity to experience a number of fun and upbeat movement combinations. Combinations will be rooted in jazz technique while exploring commercial, contemporary, and hip hop influences. Intermediate/Advanced Contemporary Technique is not required but is encouraged.
Boys Only!! Ages 6-18
We are happy to offer a class for boys only taught by Mr. Josh. Dance is a physical and athletic experience and this class is open to boys ages 6-18. This Boy’s class will help with balance, strength and flexibilities that can be used in all styles of dance and in sports. The focus of the class will be great attention to movement and agility. This class will be rotating between all styles of dance during the session.
Intermediate/Advanced Jazz Technique Ages 13-18
During intermediate and advanced jazz technique, students will explore dance fundamentals that will support their body alignment, proper muscle engagement, energy exertion, and groundedness. Dancers will be able to improve their turns, leaps, dynamic movement, strength, and more through this fast-paced and dynamic class. A large focus will be pulled from the jump rhythm jazz technique: the idea of using the hands, head, and voice as the primary sources of accenting movement. Focus will also be pulled from ballet fundamentals.
Primary/Intermediate Tap Ages 8-14
Intermediate/Advanced Tap Ages 13-18
This class emphasizes the development of tap technique & terminology with an introduction to various styles of tap. Students will explore coordination, single time steps, beginning turns, short combinations, and showmanship along with rhythm and timing within a wide range of musical accompaniment. Class begins at the "tap barre" and progresses to center floor combinations and repetitive exercises, instilling a strong foundation for the tapper.
Intermediate/Advance Leaps and Turns Ages 11-18
Jazz based technique is taught by concentrating on a series of jumps, leaps, turns and tricks, weight and direction changes, and strength exercises. Your dancer will develop balance, strength, elevation and body alignment. This is a great class to help dancers improve and practice technical elements, which will in turn help the dancer in many other styles.
Cardio Tap Ages 10-Adult
Tap dancing burns between 200-700 calories an hour. It tones your calves, thighs, butt, and arms. It also improves your balance, and it is almost impossible not to smile when you start making sounds with your feet. Tap dancing is a great workout for your memory as you strive to remember the sequence of steps and patterns in the routines. This class is for all ages and skill levels.
Tap 101 Ages 10-Adult
This class is a wonderful entry or reintroduction to dance for teens and adults who have little tap experience or who have not taken a tap class since their youth. Dancers will learn basic rhythmic tap skills, and terminology. Dancers will participate in warm up, center, and traveling exercises.
Partnering/Tricks Class Ages 10-Adult
In this class dancers will work on off-balance positions by using the countering effect of another personís weight to create shapes and achieve movements that would be impossible without the support and pull of their partner/group. A heightened sense of awareness and sensitivity will be developed through cooperation and exploration. Partners/groups will change out regularly and everyone will partner with everyone. By interacting with different body types, sizes, and skill levels, participants will gain a variety of practical experience and increase versatility within a practice of listening, patience, and compassion.
All levels are welcome and encouraged.
Contemporary 2 Ages 13-18
Contemporary dance expands on the technique and movements learned in lyrical class. Growing over popularity in the last decade the contemporary style aims to push dancers and their movement in new directions. Experimentation and improvisation often play a large part in creating contemporary movement. Understanding how your body moves through space, shifting of weight and momentum, floor work and overall body strength and control all play a critical role in this style of dance. This class encourages dancers to feel their movement from within and share that feeling thru performance.
Funk / Hip Hop Ages 11-18
Funk / Hip-Hop is a blended style often referred to as “commercial jazz” as it is the leading dance style used in today's professional dance industry. This class is the perfect fusion of hip hop, break, popping and locking, along with other fashionable dance genre. Funk / Hip Hop classes are fun and upbeat with routines choreographed to the latest popular music hits.
